  • Double curriculum

    Dual Master's degree in management

With a view to training dual-skilled engineers in high demand on the job market, all Polytech Marseille courses offer a dual degree program: engineering diploma + master's degree in management, in collaboration with Kedge, the Marseille business school.

    Double Master's degree in research

Open in 5th year for students interested in research careers and thesis studies: computer science.

Teaching environment

For many years, Marseille has had a solid reputation for research conducted in joint laboratories affiliated to the CNRS and Aix-Marseille University (AMU). The Computer Science department draws on the skills of the teaching staff developed in these laboratories(LIS, I2M), most of whom work in Data Science and Mixed Reality. These areas of expertise are supported by locally-recognized AMU bodies such as the Archimède and Laennec institutes, and technological and innovation structures such as the CRVM and CISAM. The program also benefits from strong links with the industrial world, with many lecturers from the surrounding social and economic world contributing their industrial skills to the courses.

Lending a computer

Students entering Polytech Marseille's Computer Science department must be equipped with a laptop to follow their training. The laptop must be able to run a virtual machine, in order to benefit from a homogeneous system and functional environment via the University of Aix-Marseille's VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) solutions. Computer science students will be responsible for keeping their machines running smoothly throughout their engineering studies.

The minimum characteristics of these machines for viable use over 3 years are :

  • Wifi and wired connections
  • Operating system: Windows 10, Linux 3.13, Mac OSX 10.6
  • 13-inch or larger screen, highly recommended for good visual comfort
  • Free disk space required for teaching: 250 GB
  • Processor: intel i5 or equivalent
  • RAM: 16 GB minimum

Students enrolled in the FISE program can submit a reasoned request to the department secretary at the start of the academic year, in line with AMU's principles of Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility.

To make it easier for students to enter the workforce and develop their entrepreneurial spirit while providing theoretical training, Polytech Marseille offers students project-based teaching, internships and the possibility of a professionalization contract as part of their engineering curriculum.

  • Professional integration

IT is the sector that recruits the most young graduates. The average time taken to find a first job is less than a month, and 75% of young graduates are recruited by the companies where they did their end-of-study internship. The main target sectors for engineers from the IT sector are IT companies and data science or virtual reality startups. IT users (industrial and tertiary groups, SMEs and public authorities) also provide many jobs.

All business sectors are in high demand for intelligent, immersive IT solutions: industry, healthcare, robotics, aeronautics, culture, video games, the web, etc...

    • Software engineers are responsible for the design, development and deployment of computer applications.
    • Artificial Intelligence engineers design and create "automatic prediction" applications to solve complex problems.
    • Mixed Reality engineers design and develop applications and immersion techniques using specific tools such as virtual reality headsets or digital gloves.
    • Data Science engineers design and develop Big Data-oriented algorithms and infrastructures.

  • Project-based teaching

The Computer Science curriculum includes one project per semester: scientific culture, algorithms, development, research, TAI. The "scientific culture and research" projects are designed to introduce future engineers to the scientific professions. The "algorithmic and development" projects are designed to expose students to the different phases of the project design and development cycle. Work-study students will be offered projects in line with their corporate mission.

    ICT & Digital Forum

Every year, 4th-year students in the program organize a themed professional event, the ICT & Digital Recruitment Forum. This event aims to facilitate the professional integration of future engineers looking for end-of-study internships, as well as graduates seeking employment. It is also open to other Polytech Marseille specialties, such as microelectronics and telecommunications, and industrial engineering.

For the students involved, putting on an event of this magnitude is a concrete exercise in teamwork, organization and enriching their professional network. They make a valuable contribution to the professionalization of the training courses targeted by the Forum, by offering opportunities to meet companies that are recruiting. They also contribute to the school's reputation.

  • Courses

Students in the program complete three compulsory internships, and the skills acquired are assessed by the internship supervisor and the school's teaching staff. Internships can be carried out abroad.

    • 3rd year: minimum 4-week company discovery internship starting in June.
    • 4th year: minimum 8-week internship starting in June.
    • 5th year: 6-month end-of-studies internship Option to follow a sandwich course from the 4th or 5th year.
  • Professionalization contract

Students can opt for a one-year work-study contract for the final year. The work-study schedule is 3 days at school / 2 days at the company until May, then 100% at the company.

International mobility is a requirement for the Polytech Marseille engineering diploma. It must be 12 weeks "cumulative post-baccalaureate", with a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks. The mobility options provided for in Polytech Marseille's study regulations are as follows:
