On Friday October 4, 2024, the Biomedical Engineering department welcomed a delegation from the Network of African, Indian Ocean and Caribbean Hospitals (RESHAOC) to the Luminy Campus. RESHAOC brings together 130 members from 18 African countries. Its mission is to promote exchanges between hospital professionals. At the time of the visit, the RESHAOC delegation included some twenty people from 11 different countries: Benin, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon, Guinea-Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Senegal, Morocco, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo and Djibouti. The personalities present are hospital directors, heads of medical departments, heads of biomedical maintenance departments, directors of biomedical engineering training courses and biomedical engineers. They play an important role in higher education in Africa, helping to create and improve training courses in Biomedical Engineering and in hospitals, as well as in the recruitment of biomedical engineers.
The delegation's visit is part of a joint action program led by :
- RESHAOC represented by President Khadidiatou SARR KEBE and Executive Secretary Prof. Dieu donné GNONLONFOUN
- theNGO Humatem represented by Cathy BLANC-GONNET and Clarisse DELASPRE
- Association Française des Ingénieurs Biomédicaux (AFIB) represented by Elsa NEGRE
- Fédération Hospitalière de France (FHF) represented by Nathalie CARTIER.
At Polytech, lectures and visits to project and practical rooms were organized by teachers Nadine CANDONI, former Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department (2015-2023) and Claire BRUNA-ROSSO, Head of International Relations for the Biomedical Engineering Department. Students Imane EL KARMI, Cédrine BOUTREAU, Maxime VAN DER VALK and Alexandre WEBER presented their 2nd-year international engineering internships.
This is the 3rd RESHAOC event in which the Biomedical Engineering Department is taking part, following the RESHAOC Biomedical Days in Cotonou-Benin in October 2023 and the Biomedical Engineering Collective Training in Marrakech-Morocco in February 2024.
Abderrahim Farid BENHAGOUG , Chief Engineer in the Equipment and Medico-Technical Platforms Department at Hôpital Nord-APHM, spoke at about the historic links between Marseille hospitals and AFIB, and Polytech Marseille's Biomedical Engineering training program.
