The Airbus / Polytech Marseille team, representing the Engineering Academy, has just returned from the Shell Eco Marathon 2024. The competition took place on the Nogaro circuit from May 19 to 24.
They reached 3rd place on the podium, covering 1933 km on just 1 liter of fuel. This year, their new engine, largely manufactured by the Mechanical Center of Excellence, improved fuel consumption by 5% and achieved unprecedented reliability. For the first time, the result took into account overall energy consumption, integrating engine fuel and electrical energy from vehicle components.
Their driver, Océane Martin, made 3 perfect attempts despite heavy traffic and capricious weather, putting the finishing touches to an entire year's work. This success is the fruit of collaboration between the team, Airbus staff and their partners.
The Shell Marathon is above all a human adventure, encouraging multidisciplinary and intergenerational exchanges, enriched this year by the participation of Paul and Taha, students at Polytech Marseille.
The highly motivated Team 2024 demonstrated remarkable collective intelligence, combining efficiency, confidence and complementary skills.
