Polytech Marseille proposes 8 specialized courses which cover almost all fields of engineering. 

Courses are taught in French.

Biological Engineering

This course trains specialists in the most advanced applications of microbiology and cellular biology (molecular biology, cell culture, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, etc...). It is focused on the production, extraction and purification of compounds derived from processes involving microorganisms, animal and vegetal cells.

The course also offers training in analytical techniques and methodologies for performing quality and safety control for compounds derived from bio-processes.

Biomedical Engineering

This course trains engineers as specialists in high technology systems and facilities destined for hospitals, health care organisations and health care professionals.
With regard to the purely technical part of the course, the emphasis is on instrumentation (physics, electronics, computing, signal processing), with additional courses in chemistry, biology, physiology, biomechanics, etc., which provide an essential basis for an understanding of the very extensive field of biomedical engineering (‘from scanner to scalpel’).

The course also aims to provide a sound knowledge of the health care sector and of the various people involved (suppliers of equipment and users) and also of the regulation and quality constraints, which are particularly strict in this sector, operating within a strongly international environment.

Civil Engineering



This course trains engineers to meet the challenges of modern construction practices and the requirements of the building and public works sector.
Students will acquire the techniques specific to construction and public works.

They will be trained to deal with a wide range of issues such as the calculation and dimensioning of structures, geotechnical design, hydraulics, foundations, materials, the use of new energies, the prevention and management of risk, safety, the protection of the environment, superstructures and infrastructures, heating and cooling systems for buildings, road and utilities networks, etc.

Industrial Systems Engineering



This course trains Industrial Systems Engineers, specialising in the scientific organisation and management of the industrial production of goods and services. This strong managerial competence is allied with scientific and technological knowledge that will enable students to master the techniques of automation and STIC in an industrial context.

The aim of this course is to train engineers in the concepts and technologies of the major fields of computing (modelling and programming, systems and networks, design and implementation of applications for companies, security, data bases and knowledge), including the most advanced applications.

These applications are mainly to be found in the fields of telecommunications, multimedia, mobility, content engineering, critical communicating systems, Business Intelligence, architecture and planning (? urbanisation) of information systems.

Associated with these scientific and technical competencies, the course develops the Use and Management components which serve to place the user at the centre of the process of product and computer services development, and to optimize the integration of technological development within an overall company strategy.

The aim of this course is to train engineers with the requisite knowledge and know-how in technologies and nano-technologies for the development, characterisation and expert assessment of surfaces and interfaces of solid materials and thin films.

The course focuses on the innovative capabilities offered by surface treatment and deposition of materials functionalised for specific applications, used in a broad range of industrial sectors: aeronautics, energy, microelectronics, building and public works, etc.

Mechanics and Energy



The aim of this course is to train engineers in the design and operation of processes, process modelling and control in the fields of energy, heat exchange systems and fluid mechanics.

Student engineers will acquire a sound knowledge of the following fields:  energy, heat and mass exchanges, thermal systems, fluid mechanics, computer modelling and simulation, uses of energy (renewable and fossil energy, combustion).

Microelectronics and Telecommunications



This course trains engineers to be capable of designing, analysing, developing and testing all kinds of integrated systems. The fields of application of these systems cover the sectors of the automobile, aerospace, wireless networks and mobile phone industries.

They also concern e-health, RFID applications (transponders, electronic passports, NFC), electrical energy management and smart homes.

The course also provides an introduction to the fields of nanotechnologies, photonics and ‘green’ electronics. The course benefits from a favourable economic context in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region, where the microelectronics and telecoms sectors are particularly well represented.
